Sonoran Dream
This work is nod to the characteristics of the Mexican painting aesthetic, where symbolism and mysticism converge in a unique way, the radiant colors of this ambientes converge in contrast whit an organic figure symbolizing a cactus, the desert, representative of the Northen region of the country, is implied by textures, which comes from a technique use by another Mexican artist such as Rufino Tamayo. The abstraction style helps illustrate this mystical nature that the desert and the country in general evokes, in some way, surrealist reality that comes from our culture.
About the artist, Santiago Sanchez Ramos
My name is Santiago Sanchez Ramos, more known as MOCS, I’m a young Mexican artist from Cuernavaca, Morelos. My first interactions with art started with my grandfather, which liked music and his favorite thing in the world was sharing this passion. Thus from a short age, I started to draw from a very intimate place, I’m especially interested in the plastic arts, technics such as painting, engraving and photography, but I’m very interested in expanding mediums in order to communicate what I feel, the need to say without the use of words, my art it’s a journey to the intangible sensations of feelings, this driven by my necessity of communicating my own feelings and anguish in the universal matters, visual elements like color, stroke, line, dot, figure and texture help me pursue this goal, inviting the spectator to join me on this journey and their feelings themselves.
